Living space getting smaller and smaller.

Stakeholders : the process of identifying those affected by a project or event.
From Wiki.
As I understand, for my group, stakeholders are Singapore citizen and foreigners who settle in this city. I choose to be a citizen.

Mary, is a 27 years old ordinary office worker, who just change a company located in Bugis. She goes to work every day but feels so boring and depressed. She also moved into a new house for getting closer to the new company, but the place is only half size of the place she used to live. Every morning she has to take a fast shower in a narrow bathroom, rush to bus stop taking bus. Only 9 bus stations, but takes her 30 minus because of the morning traffic jams. Day by day, she feels like herself is a working machine. Sometimes, she longed to find a quiet corner to rest, to calm down, but seems like that is a very difficult thing for her right now. Every corner of this city have been filled with the noise. So she began to miss the time that she running    across the courtyard in her hometown when she was a child, she began to recall the memory of junior high school that she walking in the path alone under the moon…… She began to regret moving out from the old apartment. Although when she think about others live in the same way as hers, she feels balance, but the changes of living space brought her psychological distress can not be eliminated.
As we can see, the consequences of living space getting smaller and smaller have effected the normal life of most citizen.

Research question
Why people make themselves so busy and have no time to rest?
Should we make our living space smaller to create more public place for relax?
Usually, the more closer to city center rent is the more expensive and smaller, Why people would rather living in small space than living in far away bigger place?

Assumptions to the above queries:
To earn money, to live their life.
Yes we should create public place but not using living space.
Because of the Transportation costs and traffic situation.

What is solvable?
Make building taller.
Improve traffic conditions.
HBD

What is insolvable?
The increasing of population.
Habitable land area.

  • Houses become more expensive                                                                                                       people own less and rent more
  • Transportation is changing                                                                                                               hard traffic will force homes to be closer to work
ENVIRONMENT & LANDSCAPE

  • Life cycle of buildings is changing                                                                                                   we need more public space
